Our Story, as told by Chris: Our story is simply about a sailor and a teacher that have become each others rocks, one granite and one limestone. I joined the US Navy in 1997 and I was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia in 1998 far away from my family in California. I was 25 years old and I had no plans on starting a family considering I was single. In August of 2004 (8 months prior to my enlistment ending and planning on going back west) I had the greatest and last date of my life. I was so thrilled; I actually called my best friend in Arizona to tell him about my future wife, Susan the schoolteacher. . .read more

Our Story, as told by Lara: I married the love of my life and my best friend, Trey, four years ago. We met when we were freshmen in college, and I knew right away I wanted to marry him. We waited until I was done with grad school before getting married. Although we had been together for nearly eight years when we got married, we decided to put off trying to start a family because he was in the Navy and I was only working part time at my job. We were proud of ourselves because we thought we were being responsible and that waiting was the right thing to do. My wake up call came in the summer of 2014. . .read more

Our Story, as told by Danielle: Kyle and I met in the fall of 2004. My now brother-in-law introduced us because he thought we would hit it off. We were so different, yet somehow we were perfect for each other from the start. We fell in love and he became my best friend. In 2009 we decided to take the next step and move in together. On a cold February night in 2012, I was folding laundry, I finally got to the bottom of the basket and there was a small box. I turned around to find Kyle standing right behind me. He asked me to marry him and I said yes! We married and bought his late grandparent’s house. . .read more

Our Story, as told by Megan: Mark and I met about 7 years ago through mutual friends playing social sports in Richmond. We had similar interests and a lot of the same friends, so our paths crossed many times over the years. About four years ago, our friendship gradually evolved into something more. So gradually in fact, that I didn’t even realize our first date was actually a date! Oops! Mark still jokes that he wants that date back. About two years after we started dating, we got married in July 2015 at our favorite Richmond winery, which also happens to be right down the road from us. . .read more

Our Story, as told by Stacey: Mark and I were always excited about having a child. But after my 15 years of trying to conceive, we had accepted that this may not happen. Any of the less expensive medical procedures just didn’t work. So we focused on buying a home. In June 2013 we became home owners and we took possession in October. Much to our surprise, we spontaneously conceived a child the very weekend we moved in. . . read more
